JF Strainstall were commissioned by Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald (BBMM) to install a monitoring system, on piers adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal, to monitor any movement that may occur relating to fluctuating canal water levels.

JF Strainstall's solution to this project has been to install one of its instrumentation and monitoring systems, utilising a series of tilt sensors with corresponding temperature sensors along each of the piers. Ultrasonic sensors were also put in place to monitor canal water levels.

All information is uploaded to our live test result website for interrogation by clients. The system also features enhanced sensor monitoring which alerts JF Strainstall staff should any sensor fall into error.
