TTMS™ deployed in Brazil.

James Fisher Strainstall's Tendon Tension Monitoring System (TTMS™) will monitor tendon tension and bending loads on a new oil rig in the Southern Campos Basin, Brazil.

James Fisher Strainstall (JF Strainstall) have supplied a Tendon Tension Monitoring System (TTMS™) for installation on a newly built tendon leg wellhead platform (TLWP) that will be used to monitor tendon tension and bending loads. The new oil rig will be deployed in the Southern Campos Basin in Brazil, and will produce 180,000 barrels of heavy oil per day.

The stand-alone system is capable of simultaneously monitoring the forces at all tendons and provides the necessary data acquisition, processing, data storage, information displays and alarm handling. It will also communicate with the TLWP's Integrated Marine Monitoring System (IMMS).

JF Strainstall have manufactured and installed 24 load cells each rated to 2500 kips (1133 tonnes) and designed for extended sub-sea service with a design life of 25 years. 3 load cells have been installed in each tendon top connector to measure tendon tension, the output from which is then digitised and transmitted to the master control unit in the cargo control room. Various display screens are available to the operators showing current operational status and all alarm conditions. An audible alarm sounds in the event of any tension or bending limit being reached.
