Lunan Bridge monitoring, Scotland.
JF Strainstall have been commissioned to undertake full instrumentation and monitoring of the Lunan Viaduct in Scotland. The brief was to design and install a protection monitoring system to enable the behaviour of the structure to be monitored over a period of time given the current age-related condition of the bridge.
Lunan Water Bridge is currently used as a rail link from Arbroath to Montrose near Angus, Scotland and comprises two brick piers and two brick abutments.
A JF Strainstall instrumentation and monitoring logging system was installed to control and monitor the sensors to measure tilt, displacement and temperature variations over a long term period. The monitoring system is self-contained using solar energy and data is uploaded to JF Strainstall's very own logging website
